Ravi Howard

A resident of Atlanta, GA, Ravi Howard is an up and coming HarperCollins author who’s receiving rave reviews from his readers.

The 2008 winner of the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence, Ravi Howard has received major accolades for his debut novel, Like Trees, Walking.  The book was also nominated for the Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award.

Before the publication of Trees, Howard’s freelance work was seen in The New York Times and heard on National Public Radio, and has also be featured in Paste, Callaloo, and The Massachusetts Review.

Howard currently works as a fiction instructor for Callaloo Creative Writing Workshops and was a Creative Writing Professor for Atlanta Metropolitan State College from January 2012- April 2013.  Howard has also been a freelance producer for NASCAR, working on the Stargazing Segment on Fox Sports in 2013, and was a Producer for NFL Films from 2001-2005, winning an Emmy for his work in 2005 for his work on Inside the NFL.

Howard’s second book, Driving the King, was published in January of 2015.  It is the story of Nat King Cole and how he deals with the racism of 1950s America, and his dear friend, Nat Weary, a former taxi driver who finds himself in the new world of Los Angeles, California.
